October 1 – November 30
Scratch is the best environment we’ve ever seen for getting young programmers’ feet wet with coding concepts. The block-based, drag-and-drop interface is intuitive and familiar to students who have tried their hand at code.org and other “Coding 101” web sites. Scratch is also pretty powerful—-besides including essentials like loops and conditionals, it lets you define your own dynamically typed variables, create functions, pull in external libraries, and much more. That may all sound nerdy, but the important thing is you can do “real” programming with it. The focus of this course will be on games and animations…which are, of course, SUPER FUN!
