Description
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
December 4 – February 12
Grades 3-4.
Scratch is the best environment for getting young programmers’ feet wet with coding concepts. The block-based, drag-and-drop interface is intuitive and familiar to students who have tried their hand at code.org and other “Coding 101” web sites. Besides including essentials like loops and conditionals, it lets users define their own dynamically typed variables, create functions, pull in external libraries, and much more. That may all sound nerdy, but the important thing is you can do “real” programming with it. The focus of this course will be on building games, quizzes, and animations…which are, of course, SUPER FUN!
This class will meet on December 4, 11, and 18; January 8, 15, 22, and 29; and Feb. 5 and 12.
