John Berliner, Lead Educator
John has over 15 years of teaching experience. He has a degree in Computer Science from Columbia University, and a Master’s degree in English Literature from Yale.
After graduate school, John worked as a technology contractor, providing IT services to small businesses. During that time, he enjoyed a two-year stint as webmaster and engineer for networking startup Zhone Technologies. Most recently, John served as Director of Technology at Live Oak School in San Francisco. He has surfed all over the world, but still prefers his home break, Ocean Beach.
Scott Wilber, Contributing Educator
Scott Wilber is the Middle School and Kindergarten Visual Arts teacher at Live Oak School, with over 25 years experience. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Visual Communications.
In addition to his work at Live Oak, Scott is a painter and sculptor. He has also been a scenic painter and set designer, as well as a freelance illustrator working for such clients as Target, Disney, and Town Square Graphics. In his spare time, Scott volunteers at Golden Gate National Recreation Area doing habitat restoration and frequents flea markets and dumpsters looking for cool stuff to make art with—which means his wife and daughter think he has too much stuff.
Wil Dionisio, Contributing Educator
Wil Dionisio is from Daly City, California, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from San Francisco State University. He is currently employed at Live Oak School as a PE teacher and art assistant. In his free time, Wil enjoys rooting for all the Bay Area sports teams, attending live concerts, and delivering original spoken word performances at select Bay Area venues.
We offer Internships to middle and high school students looking to hone their leadership skills in a supportive environment.
Interns assist with both logistics and instruction in our camps and classes. It’s a great way to get some valuable real-world experience. Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org if you or someone you know is interested in an internship at DEV / Lab.
